JER is a Brazilian-Canadian artist and producer based in Toronto, whose music brings the rhythms and percussion of Bahia into contact with electronics, 808s, guitar pedals and experimental production.
Her new single, “It’s Not a Joke,” arrives September 18, 2026, ahead of her debut album of the same name, out October 16, 2026, on her independent label, INFR Records. The single was produced by JER and João Leão, mixed by Mark Lawson and mastered by Justin Gray.
JER first picked up a microphone at thirteen, at a cousin’s birthday party in Bahia, singing beside a local trovador whose chord magazines she had spent years studying through the window of his newsstand.
She has since performed at Calgary Folk Music Festival, TD Toronto Jazz Festival and TD Music Hall, where she opened for Luedji Luna.
